The Client
Western Power Distribution (WPD) is the electricity distribution network operator for the Midlands, South West and Wales. It delivers electricity to over 7.9 million customers over a 55,500 square kilometres service area and employs over 6,500 people. The UK’s electricity system is undergoing a rapid period of change as consumers change behaviours to influence a lower carbon future. To enable this change, networks are becoming smarter and more active. WPD is playing a leading role within the industry, preparing its network to meet the future energy demands for its customers.
The Brief
Drawing on extensive energy industry experience and expertise, support the development of WPD’s new communications strategy, supporting corporate reputation objectives. Working with the Head of External Affairs, and across departments, support the proactive delivery of the strategy, providing counsel and direction.
As a valued and retained client, Middleton Davies delivers strategic advice to the WPD’s Head of External Affairs and respond to business needs. Our work includes:
- Support the delivery of an integrated communications strategy and planning approach
- Produce and deliver ‘Social media strategy and planning’ workshops for specialist teams and introduce content planning models
- Support and provide expert advice on customer awareness campaign
- Collaborate with partners and provide strategic advice on media planning, media monitoring and evaluation, and professional media/communications training for C-level executives
